Die International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS)

Psychologie weltweit – in der IUPsyS sind Psychologie-Verbände aus 70 Ländern zusammengeschlossen.

Die International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) ist der Weltverband der wissenschaftlichen Psychologie. Er wurde 1951 gegründet und repräsentiert inzwischen mehr als 500.000 Psychologinnen und Psychologen weltweit. IUPsyS versteht sich als Plattform für den globalen Fachdiskurs, vertritt zudem psychologische Anliegen auch in anderen Weltverbänden für Wissenschaft und Forschung (u. a. ICSU, ISSC). Alle vier Jahre richtet sie den Weltkongress der Psychologie aus.

Die Ziele der IUPsyS

Als ihre Ziele gibt die International Union of Psychological Science  an:

“The IUPsyS works to promote „the development, representation and advancement of psychology as a basic and applied science nationally, regionally, and internationally“ (Article 5, IUPsyS Statutes).

The objectives of the IUPsyS (Article 6, IUPsyS Statutes) are:

• To enhance and promote the development of the science and profession of psychology.
• To exchange ideas and scientific information between psychologists of different countries.
• To organize the International Congresses of Psychology and other meetings on subjects of general or special interest in psychology.
• To contribute to psychological knowledge through publishing activities.
• To foster the exchange of publications and other communications among different countries.
• To foster excellence in standards for education, training, research and the applications of psychology.
• To enable the development of psychological scientists and national associations through capacity building activities.
• To foster international exchange, especially among students and young researchers.
• To collaborate with other international, regional, and national organizations in matters of mutual interest.”

The International Congress of Psychology

Alle vier Jahre findet unter der Schirmherrschaft der IUPsyS der Internationale Psychologie-Kongress statt. Im Jahre 2008 wurden PsychologInnen aus aller Welt zum XXIX. International Congress in Berlin begrüßt.

Der nächste Internationale Psychologie-Kongress findet vom 18. bis 23. Juli 2021 in Prag statt.

President

„Professor Pam Maras from the University of Greenwich was elected as President-Elect of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS). Professor Maras is the first female to hold this position in the organisation’s history, which dates back to the very first International Congress of Psychology that was held in August 1889 in Paris, France. Her election was announced during the 31st International Congress of Psychology in Yokohama, Japan at the IUPsyS Assembly on 27 July 2016. Professor Maras is a former President of the British Psychological Society and is the Director of Research and Enterprise and Professor of Social & Educational Psychology at Greenwich.“
